JS&A GROUP INC. was funded by Joe Sugarman. The company was doing excellent marketing of innovative products, selling by mail and advertising excellently. in 1978, They distributed the MK1 of Novag. To attract the attention of the public, Sugarnman defied Karpov to win against the MK1. On the same vein, Peter Auge of Novag recruited Karpov to endorse his line of computers. Unfortunately, bad publicity came with the revelation of the copy of the Compuchess of Data Cash Systems ROM program by Novag. Novag was saved during the lawsuit by a dark story of software copyright propriety.
