This Citrine is particular by its tournament size.
Based on several discussions and investigations, it is an unique piece done by an amateur and not by Novag.

It represents well what could have been a possible development of the Novag Citrine or a missing opportunity.

The Grand Citrine with its Tournament board is particularly attractive to play.

Comparison with Mephisto Munchen S

The Munchen board is smaller than the Grand Citrine.

Three Fold Comparison
An unexpected meeting for 3 boards: a Munchen S, a regular Citrine, and the Grand Citrine.
Definitely, the Grand Citrine is the winner... by its size.

The rear of the Citrine

It doesn't exist any difference between the 2 Citrine.

Same chessmen, but in an increased size for the Grand Citrine.

Conclusion

The Grand Citrine is a Tournament Board not manufactured by Novag.
The electronics are from Novag: it is a simple transfer of a full regular Novag Citrine inside of a bigger board.
The work is of an exceptional quality and deserves respect and admiration.
This board is not a piece of collection, but it is a beautiful way to appreciate the Novag Citrine on a Tournament Board: simply put, the pleasure to play...
